A solid state valve for the transfer of fluids. A neat concept isn’t it! Well Tesla thought so.
Nikola Tesla after leaving Edison’s Labs (yes, that’s right) decided to go his own way. He created many a new technology and one of them being the Tesla Valve, or, as he called it “The Valvular Conduit”. It’s a good description.
If you need a water pump installed in a third world country, the Tesla Valve Pump could be the answer, as it low maintenance.
So how does it work. Baffled? Well yes actually. The water can flow easily in one direction as the baffles act like knives cutting through the water with almost no resistance. In the opposite direction the baffles act like scoops holding the water back. forcing the water to push against itself. The more you try to force the water through, the most the water fights back. In a word, GENIUS!
So a tall engineering salute to Nicola Tesla and his Solid State Valve.
